Three orthopedic patients have successfully received a mixed virtual reality operation on Monday. It’s a remote medical consultation that connects three cities in China and US together. It was performed by doctors in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and remote doctors from China’s Wuhan City, and Virginia Tech University in the US as well. This is the world's first operation with remote medical consultation based on mixed reality technology. This new type of medical technology helps remote doctors enter the operation room. The doctors from different countries will receive the three-dimensional images of patients’ lesions. It makes the doctors feel like they are in the same place after they wear mixed reality headpiece.
